Vehicular Gates

Policy EM2 – Erection of New Buildings Policy

Typically vehicular gates are not deemed acceptable as these features contradict the principles of the open frontages and soft landscaping to a Garden City home. There may be exceptional circumstances which may see good precedence of gates being proposed. The following should be taken into consideration when submitting an application:

• Gates should not be dominant to the appearance of the house or character of the street scene.
• Be neutral or subtle in colour such as a white or black finish.
• Design and materials of features must be appropriate for the locality
• Be less than 3m in width not exceed 1m in height.

Vehicular gates to terraced properties will not be accepted.
